Director Income Tax Operations
We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office, moving to 3 days/week in September)

Job Summary
The Director of Income Tax Operations is responsible for all aspects of forecasting, accounting for income taxes, taxable income computations and annual tax account reconciliations. NiSource calculates its income tax provision on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis utilizing CorpTax Provision software. The Director is responsible for reviewing the quarterly tax-related financial information and disclosures included in SEC filings (Forms 10-K and 10-Q). The successful candidate will partner with team members in both the business and peers in tax planning and indirect tax. This position will include the following key responsibilities
Essential Functions
Leads a team of tax professionals to account for all aspects of income tax accounting and reporting, including calculating the effective tax rate, current and deferred tax provisions, taxes payable, and return to provision adjustments.
Analyzes the tax consequences of various book / tax differences and tax topics, including accounting methods, fixed assets, stock compensation, and tax credits.
Reports quarterly and annual accounting for income tax results in the 10Q, 10K, and Non-GAAP reporting.
Ensures income tax forecast and income tax provisions are correctly stated
Coordinates external auditor review of the consolidated and separate company financial statements
Ensures appropriate SOX processes, including design and testing
Coordinates and integrates with corporate tax planning, business controllers, accounting policy, financial planning & analysis, regulatory, and other business partners
Enhances analytics and understand effective tax rate components
Develops process documentation and support ongoing process transformation while adhering to controls and policies
Develops and manages a team of tax professionals, supporting ongoing technical and professional development.
Assists in identifying tax planning opportunities, maximize efficiencies and minimize risk
Supports the diligence and integration processes for domestic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and business initiatives. Ensure impact of approved transactions are timely and accurately incorporated into forecasts. Prepares calculations and / or disclosures relating to the impact of such transactions.
Leverages technology to create effective efficiency and design dashboards and analytics to manage processes
Leads the evolution of tax technology tools and support technology enhancements
Required Qualifications For Position
Bachelor's Degree
At least 12 years of professional experience with 5+ years of public accounting experience in ASC 740 with one of the "Big Four" firms or equivalent experience
Experience supervising teams to build an atmosphere of trust; providing technical training and mentorship to other team members; coaching staff including providing timely and meaningful feedback
Comprehensive technical skills in general accounting principles, ASC 740, and federal and state income tax concepts
Tax provision and compliance software experience, preferably CorpTax
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong tax research skills
Organized and attentive to detail
Certified Public Accountant
Exposure to or implementation of Alteryx, Tableau or other tools in Tax

Salary Range*:
$155,400.00 - $233,100.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
