Job Summary 

The Sr Forecasting & Modeling Analyst is responsible for developing and supporting data and analytics solutions that drive value. The Sr Analyst partners with business teams to fully understand the problem being solved, extracts & preps data, builds analytic models, visualizations & front-end tools needed to infuse insights into our business process.  The Sr Analyst contributes to the development of analytics best practices, data governance policies and data stewardship procedures, and assists in the ongoing sustainability of solutions by both adhering to and promoting process and technology standards. The Sr Analyst has experience in the full development lifecycle of analytics products and understands solution architecture and data modeling, has an awareness of data science and the types of challenges that can be solved, works independently with limited supervision, coaches & reviews the work of colleagues with less experience, and solves complex problems while taking a new perspective on existing solutions.   

 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Acts in the capacity of subject matter and business intelligence expert in the enterprise analytical technologies and drives adoption of self-service analytics capabilities to achieve value objectives within the business.  

  • Develops and implements analytics solutions (including data models, data sets, reports, dashboards, and integrated analytics) to solve business needs, accelerate insights and inform actions and adhere to data governance and BI policies and standards. 

  • Consults with Data Product Owner on the design of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Data Lake environments to maximize the quality, accessibility, and re-usability of data.  

  • Establishes, promotes, and monitors adherence to policies and standards for business intelligence products.  

  • Partners with IT to ensure the technical stability and performance of user facing technology and establish upgrade strategies and roadmaps 

  • Develops a strong understanding of business processes, company enterprise platform, and table structures/relationships to extract and report correct data  

  • Develops interactive dashboards and promote their use with internal stakeholders 

  • Develops and manages personal deliverables, timelines and milestones related to assigned projects. 

  • Leverages complex SQL and Python functions to extract and shape data  

  • Automates the monitoring of datasets for completeness and data quality  

  • Incorporates predicative solutions with imbedded BI functions and begins to introduce data science concepts to analytics solutions that require coding or scripting.  

 

 

Required Qualifications for Position 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or a related business or quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience in data-related discipline  

  • 3+ years of experience  

  • Experience with data acquisition methods and tools (Tableau Prep, SQL, Python)  

  • Experience with data visualization and analysis software (Tableau, Excel, Cognos Analytics, PowerBI)   

  • Experience working with relational databases   

  • Experience in at least one coding language for shaping and extracting data  (Python, R, SQL, Prep Tools) 

  • Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills  

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite 

 

Preferred Qualifications for Position 

  • Related experience in the utility industry 

  • Strong business acumen  

  • Specific domain knowledge and experience  

  • Experience with statistical modeling  

  • Experience as a data steward and knowledge of data governance

Salary Range:

$77,400.00 - $116,200.00
