 Job Title: Sr Director, Columbia Companies Rates and Regulatory 

Job Code: 108010 

**We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office)**

Job Summary 

This role is responsible for leading a team in the development, preparation and implementation of regulatory filings, studies and plans for the Columbia Distribution Companies.  This includes providing regulatory guidance and insights designed to maximize financial and strategic value, leveraging the resources of the regulatory team, and providing regulatory expertise, guidance and support in addressing industry issues, meeting financial goals, and developing strategic plans.  The duties of this role include ensuring the future financial viability of Columbia by working with leadership teams to address financial gaps, developing regulatory initiatives, and executing on the delivery of the expected outcomes. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Advising Columbia State leadership on the impacts of changes affecting the industry, monitoring the external environment for regulatory opportunities and/ or risks and consulting with state partners to share trends, insights and best practices across the organization 
  • Facilitating alignment of regulatory efforts with NiSource’s strategic direction and industry best practices by  supporting legislative frameworks to drive best in the industry regulatory and financial performance  
  • Ensuring accurate and timely presentation of data (e.g., exhibits, schedules, testimony) in support of rate and regulatory proceedings, as well as for external stakeholders (investor relations and credit rating agencies) 
  • Working with state leadership teams in planning the timing of future regulatory filings 
  • Serving as a key contact for internal Columbia state regulatory staff concerning the provision of state-specific regulatory services; Direct and manage the fulfillment of all pertinent regulatory services 
  • Ensuring continued professional development of team
  • Monitoringthe latest developments and best practices in the industry 
  • Leading/directing special projects as requested by management or state regulatory staffs. Participating with management in the strategic decision process 
  • Being  a regulatory expert in various forums, such as meetings with internal departments and senior management, as well as meetings with external groups, such as industry/trade associations 
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements 

Required Qualifications for Position 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other Business disciplines 
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in utility finance, rate and regulatory matters 
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills 
  • Proven business and financial acumen 
  • Experience in facilitating change and building high-performance cultures 
  • Understanding of regulatory finance and impacts on the financial statements 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization 
  • Strong at building, maintaining and leveraging relationships to achieve desired results 

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position 

  • MBA and/or CPA 
  • Knowledge of key strategic, financial, regulatory and operational concepts of the electric and gas distribution industries 
  • Previous experience with rate case outcome forecasting

Salary Range:

$181,100.00 - $271,800.00
