Sr. Data Governance Analyst

Full Time

Way of Work: Remote

Salary: $77,400 - $116,200, plus annual bonus

 

The Data Governance Department, under the Office of Innovation creates value by ensuring availability, usability, consistency, integrity, security, and connectivity of NiSource data. 

The Sr Data Governance Analyst drives the strategy development for data improvements, including changes to how data is collected, stored, and used across NiSource. As the Sr Data Governance Analyst you will work independently with limited supervision, coach  and review the work of colleagues with less experience​ and solve complex problems while taking a new perspective on existing solutions.   

The Data Governance team is responsible for documenting data flows within work processes, and for creating KPIs to monitor critical data elements to ensure data quality is maintained.   

 

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors and reports data quality KPIs including measurement of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness  

  • Collaborates with business partners across the enterprise to understand the data needs of the business 

  • Helps identify, monitor and report data quality for critical data elements, including measurement of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness 

  • Maintains an Enterprise data catalog, business glossary, and data quality tooling/dashboards 

  • Standardize, Submit, and Validate all Reference Data within the Data Lake in alignment with project timelines

  • Collaborate with IT partners to ensure all relevant metadata documentation is following standards and being stored in a centralized location.

  • Capture all relevant details regarding fit for purpose for each data release for end user consumption alongside the Data Product Organization

  • Curate and maintain metadata documentation for Data Lake schemas within the Enterprise Data Catalog

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis including manipulating large data sets, building visualizations, performing data integration, or similar duties

  • 3+ years of experience with databases and database structures including the ability to articulate data concepts between business-focused, functional, and technical data users

  • 1+ years of experience in direct data governance 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using data analysis tools and techniques 

  • Experience in the roll-out and adoption of governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview or similar

  • Experience working in a company with strong data governance
