Job Summary
The Director Operational Excellence - Emergency Management is responsible for the design, content, and updating process of the Emergency Preparedness and Response plans for the entire gas segment. Oversees emergency exercise drill and training processes to assure readiness, and relationships across the footprint with key regulatory, emergency response and local and state governmental officials. Leads the EP&R Team and works with the seven states and the impacted shared services and corporate centers to update, maintain and implement the EP&R Plan and the Incident Command System for all seven states.

Essential Functions

  • Manages two or more full time NiSource employees and has the ability to hire, fire, coach, and performance manage employees.
  • Key leader in the execution of the plan during incidents (supporting Incident Commander).
  • Lead the strategy, design and execution of overall emergency response training plan including scenario exercises for all levels of incidents. EPR team leads execution of plan with various states and operations groups.
  • Lead strategy for After Action Reviews and action item tracking process through completion – take learnings and apply to emergency and incident command structure
  • Develop technology strategy to support the maintenance, updates and execution of the plan
  • Create strategy for annual meetings with communities we serve including key messages and information overviews
  • Build and assure maintenance of relationship strategy and plan across our footprint (media, fire, police, elected officials)
  • Oversee process to maintain the community partner matrix (media, fire, police, elected officials, materials, contracts, mutual aid, etc.)
  • Provide EP&R information for filing plans with regulatory bodies
  • Manage Continuous Improvements to the plan and processes that are activated during an incident. Collaborate with key stakeholders on such improvements
  • Track changes and improvements made to the plan
  • Oversee process to identify, track and update employees assigned to ICS roles
  • Collaborate with IC to maintain current ARCOS call out lists for ICS
  • Ensure Record Retention of all Incident Related documentation
  • Annual publishing and distribution of the plan

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Related Field and four years experience
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and proven experience in a diverse workforce environment.
  • Ability to research, develop, and coordinate comprehensive emergency management programs.
  • High work standards and high stress tolerance.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills in order to effectively create and present exercise findings, training compliance reports, emergency management programs and procedures.
  • Good planning, organizing, skills and the ability to accept, manage, communicate, and facilitate change.
  • A thorough understanding of construction, maintenance and operations of the gas and electrical utility industry
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 300

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • FEMA 400 Certificate

Salary Range:

$150,900.00 - $226,300.00
