Job Summary
The NiSource Fleet Manager is responsible for all managerial duties that maintain the NiSource Fleet including: financial planning, managing personnel, standardizing processes in all external maintenance facilities and monitoring their performance. The Fleet Manager is also responsible for leading efforts aimed at improving maintenance and related processes against best practice standards. The Fleet Manager is reasponsible to facilitate annual fleet acquisitions and completing maintenance requirements, fleet utilization, and acquisition deliveries against the forecast plan to the user community. The Fleet Manager will monitor their business units budget v. actual relative to fleet expenses including fuel usage, monitor maintenance program performance metrics and manage facilitate vendor selection.

Essential Functions

  • Establish and track NiSource fleet maintenance performance metrics utilizing ARI fleet management system
  • Establish and manage the NiSource fleet maintenance program using standardized fleet maintenance practices
  • Establish and maintain a listing of all approved repair facilities to be used for repair and servicing of the NiSource Fleet
  • Evaluate internal and external best practice standards and incrementally improve NiSource fleet maintenance program
  • Assist in developing budgets for Fleet Maintenance Services including working with Supervisor team to collaborate with Operations on fleet costs, expenses by center and vehicle
  • Maintain compliance of Fleet Maintenance Services with all EPA, OSHA, ANSI, DOT, NFPA 52, and Title 49 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Report fleet acquisition and maintenance requirements, fleet utilization, and new acquisitions against plan
  • Manage Fleet budget - monitor Budget v. actual and offer value added suggestions and participate with finance in forecasting
  • Monitor fuel and fuel usage
  • Administer fuel/maintenance card program
  • Coordinate training and Safety programs
  • Failitate selection and manage vendors
  • Manage fleet supervisors and department personnel - including setting goals, conducting performance mananagement reviews.
  • Provide continuing education for development of fleet supervisors
  • Solicit feedback from user community to identify continuous improvement opportunities for new vehicle acquisitions
  • Deliver great customer service including responding to inquiries within 24 hours
  • Monitor direct reports issue logs for their assigned territories and establish regular reviews with operations personnel
  • Facilitate employee engagement and customer satisfaction
  • Leads a qualified team of at least two or more full time employees and has the authority to hire, terminate, coach, develop, promote, demote and performance manage members of the team

  • Required Qualifications For Position
  • Bachelor's Degree Four year BA/BS degree or equivalent in experience
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Willing to travel across the NiSource footprint. Travel up to 40%
  • In-depth Knowledge: Maintenance Engineering, Asset Life Cycle Management, Fleet Operations
  • Working Knowledge: Labor Union Agreements, Cost Accounting, Federal and State Laws/Regulations pertaining to vehicle operations and maintenance
  • Skills: Management, Leadership, Communication, Negotiation, Analytical, Organizational, Planning, Presentation Development and Delivery, Customer Focus, Innovation, Facilitating Change, Building Trust, Strategic Descion Making
  • Good Communication Skills - Ability to communicate verbally as well as in writing Comfortable communicating at multiple levels from drives to CEO.
  • Critical Thinking - ability to separate fact from assumptions, determine what is relevant in decision making process
  • Presentation skills - This position will be required to build and present presentations to customers, suppliers, and other associate groups within the NiSource family of companies (i.e. customer and supplier quarterly business reviews)
  • Safety Focus - Facilitate building a safety culture where all employees are looking out for each other’s safety

Salary Range:

$107,000.00 - $160,500.00

The NiSource Fleet Manager is responsible for all aspects of fleet management for the Columbia Gas Companies located in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. NiSource Fleet Operations acquires, maintains and remarkets all fleet managed assets.
