Job Summary
The position will lead and oversee corporate fleet activities across NiSource including, vendor selection, vehicle and equipment acquisitions, annual budgets, and partnerships. The position reports to the Director of Fleet Operations and will collaborate closely with other leaders across the company to understand all components of NiSource's Strategy and identify opportunities to advance strategic objectives. The position will lead a team focused on corporate fleet development as well as leverage resources from external suppliers and fleet management partners.

Essential Functions

  • Identify opportunities to enhance NiSource’s Fleet Operations through strategic positioning and collaboration within NiSource and our Fleet Management Company (FMC)
  • Direct ongoing analysis of NiSource’s Fleet portfolio of assets with respect to their contributions to NiSource’s Field Operations focused on strategic objectives and in relation to similar assets across the industry through benchmarking and analysis
  • Complete threat and opportunity assessments to identify areas of interest and potential opportunities within the scope of Fleet Operations
  • Lead analyses of potential development opportunities, including strategic assessment, financial modeling, and business plan reviews to ensure alignment with Field Operations and Fleet
  • Coordinate end-to-end workstreams for Fleet Operations projects including asset re-marketing, fleet acquisition, deal negotiations and closing, communications and business integration across internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and present analyses and business cases at key executive-level meetings (SOCC, Executive Leadership Team, Strategy Council, State Risk Tables etc.)
  • Build and maintain relationships with external parties including industry peers, Fleet Management Companies and other industry leaders, staying abreast of activity across the fleet industry
  • Ensure alignment and process coordination with key internal stakeholders including leaders in NiSource’s Utilities, Operations, Strategy & Risk, Finance, Legal, IT and Human Resources functions
  • Maintains and awareness of new applications, technologies, technical methods, trends, and advances in the profession: reviews professional publications, technical manuals, and websites to increase knowledge of vehicle, maintenance and fuel systems; and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

  • Required Qualifications For Position
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, Statistics, Finance or related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in fleet management or maintenance, utility, and/or operational experience, 5 years of management experience for a comparably sized organization or as a director for a smaller organization; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
  • Strong people leadership skills, focused on the personal and professional growth and development of others
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence across all levels and functions with the organization to achieve outcomes through others
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect at an executive level
  • Proven program and project leadership experience on high impact activities
  • Ability to maintain professional discretion with sensitive, highly confidential, proprietary and competitive information at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex or abstract ideas clearly and succinctly through verbal and written communications
  • Ability to consume and distill large quantities of information and develop insights from vast sources of information, including benchmarking research reports, industry news, daily news publications, company press releases, etc.
  • Ability to develop and maintain complex financial models related to asset management and fleet replacement projections
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
  • Master's Degree
  • Strong experience with legal aspects of transaction agreements
  • Utility industry experience, including knowledge and understanding of the regulatory structure and financial strategy

Salary Range:

$125,800.00 - $188,600.00
