Job Title:  Director of Work Management

Job Summary 

Leads standardization for Operations Work Management, responsible for work readiness which includes coordinating, prioritize, scheduling and dispatching of construction, system operations and customer programs and controls teams providing critical support to all six (6) NiSource operating companies. Responsibilities include: developing and implementing standard strategic approach for all field work between all companies, align the organization for acceptance and change of new software process, oversight of all applicable gas related work management activities related to large gas projects and related contractor activities, gas measurement, pressure regulation, corrosion, leakage inspection, cast iron surveys, curb box programs, patrolling, locates, and expansion of AOC programs. Ensures effective scheduling, prioritization based on risk and compliance and assignment of gas related work and manages QA/QC efforts within the department to ensure compliance and exceptional customer serviceScheduling ensures adherence to compliance requirements and execution of electric operations work plansClose partnerships must be maintained between key organizations to drive successful outcomesEstablish joint accountability and shared metrics with these key business partners to ensure alignment between organizationsDriving for results, leading change, and strategic thinking will be crucial for successProvide strong and inclusive leadership in a manner that engages employees, establishes a culture of trust and accountability and creates a strong pipeline of talent.  

Key Results: 

  • Full implementation of Standardized industry leading process across all 6 states that aligns with all process and software changes on the IT 5yr roadmap 

  • Successful execution of operations work plans with focus on safety, compliance and customer service 

  • Work execution objectives driven with sense of urgency and continuous improvement 

  • Collaborative communication to key partners on plans, status of work, and escalation of issues 

  • Effective, efficient systems and consistent processes for managing work 

  • Compliance with federal/state government regulations and company policies/procedures 

  • Exceptional leadership during management of critical incidents 

  • Strong, collaborative relationships with operations and planning business partners 

  • Culture focused on continuous improvement and identification of best practices 

  • High performing team that prioritizes hiring strong leaders and talent development 

  • Collaboration and coordination across the Integration Center to drive “One Team” mindset 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assist in developing and driving strategy and direction for overall Integration Center execution of NiSource corporate vision and objectives 

  • Accountable for oversight of Integration Center responsibilities related to construction and system operations work plans, customer programs and controls execution across the seven states 

  • Provide visible, active and calm leadership during critical events 

  • Collaborate closely with other Integration Center leaders during incidents to ensure business continuity and exceptional response to any incident 

  • Drives accountability for compliance within the Integration Center 

  • Collaboration and communication with business partners on key strategic and operational matters 

  • Champion consistency and collaboration throughout Integration Center and operations 

  • Sets expectations of need to build and maintain close partnerships with operations and planning teams to ensure success 

  • Provide effective communication, motivation, guidance, training and knowledge to your team 

  • Manages toward aggressive financial and departmental targets 

  • Create a culture where all people feel valued and have opportunities to grow and develop 

 

Required Qualifications for Position 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations or Business Management, Engineering, or equivalent work experience 

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and understand the big picture 

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in operations or work management related activities 

  • Proven ability to build strong collaborative partnerships 

  • Ability to help teams/partners reach consensus 

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to drive execution 

  • Ability to lead teams through significant change 

  • Proven ability to build organizational talent and create highly successful teams 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Working knowledge of PC applications 

  • Ability to travel as needed 

  • 24/7 operations at times requires availability at night, on weekends, holidays, etc. 

 

Preferred Qualifications for Position 

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct field or construction operations, Integration Center or operations related experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years leading other leaders 

  • Continuous improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma etc.) 

  • Diverse background across operations, work management activities (planning, scheduling, dispatch) 

  • Strong knowledge of or experience in operations planning, budgeting

Salary Range:

$150,900.00 - $226,300.00
