Salary Range - $58,400 - $116,200

Job Summary
The Lead New Business Specialist is accountable for the execution of customer requested work essential to meeting key performance indicators through research of facilities, applying design standards, pricing, invoicing, contracting, and order management. Capable of providing technical solutions and process insights that facilitate efficient installations for both the customer and the company. Anticipates challenges and collaborates with stakeholders to meet customer in-service requests. Provides exceptional customer experience that encourages repeat business with the company. May include field work related to design of customer requested work.

Essential Functions
 

  • Accurately designs and manages the order management of customer requested gas and electric services, upgrades, relocates and other New Business cases; utilizes effective techniques for planning and tracking.

  • Reviews CAD drawings, prepares permits, easements, other miscellaneous documents for the design of gas and electric New Business cases.

  • Assesses customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions. Encourages conversion from alternate fuels to natural gas.

  • Analyzes project parameters and determines factors and recommendations for contract preparation.

  • Uses independent judgement to determine contract parameters in a manner that satisfies customer and complies with regulatory policies.

  • Manages complex order requests that involve engagement of multiple stakeholders to ensure work is planned and executed efficiently with close coordination with customer.

  • Manages customer requirements from the initial needs to the final delivery of gas and electric utilities.

  • Provides an exceptional level of customer service in-person, via telephone, and electronic communication.

  • Provides solutions that effectively meet the needs of the customer and Company while complying with all applicable standards.

  • Calculates commercial hourly demand, pressure requirements, and annual fuel utilization.

  • Develops positive working relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders through both direct and indirect communications.

  • Assists in the restoration efforts of customer power outages.

  • Leads new business process improvement initiatives. Subject matter expert for new business on stakeholder initiatives.

  • Provides guidance and mentorship to others. Subject matter expert and collaborates with other members of the new business team to exceed performance metrics.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications for Position

  • Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in gas and electric distribution work management principles.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of energy products, services, end-use applications

  • Strong computing skills including but not limited to the Microsoft 365.

  • Exercises independent judgment and initiates solutions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish business goals.

  • Excellent problem solving & decision-making skills.

  • Ability to meet pressured deadlines within time constraints.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Travel may be required.

    Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.

  • Prior New Business Specialist experience

  • Proficiency in NiSource’s work management systems and customer relationship management solutions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish business goals.

  • Ability to meet pressured deadlines within time constraints. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities. 

  • Travel may be required. 

Preferred Qualifications for Position 

  • Prior utility experience 

  • Ability to read/interpret construction prints, understand and apply basic surveying principles.
