NiSource Internship Program Introduction 

The 12-week NiSource Internship program starting May 20th, is a multi-faceted development experience that provides our interns with challenging and meaningful work that impacts the communities we serve. As a NiSource intern, you will have the opportunity to learn from senior leadership and build professional relationships with employees across our company. The NiSource Internship program also incorporates workshops to learn about NiSource, the energy industry and infuses learning and development opportunities that sharpen your professional skills. The robust program will aid in building the fundamentals needed to enter the energy workforce upon graduation.

Job Summary 

The Corporate Real Estate Project Specialist Intern will participate in multiple real estate activities from real estate transactions, design, and construction and facility maintenance. They will also assist with day-to-day real estate and facility management administrative responsibilities.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the upkeep and filing of project files, reports and files as required. 


Assist with the organization and upkeep of the Real Estate shared project folder structure. 


Assist with upkeep of current files of as-builts, schematics, and engineering drawings of facilities and equipment, including specifications, operation, and maintenance manuals. 


  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and status reports, track and follow up on open items.  

  • Review of project financial/budget, construction schedules and noting issues arising during the planning, design, and construction process. 

  • Basic Review design documents and submittals from third party consultants, contractors, vendors. 

  • Attend Construction Site visits for observation of onsite activity, capture site photos and create field observation notes. 


Required Qualifications for Position 

Completed 2 years of a bachelor’s degree program in Construction Management 

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.  
  • Highly motivated with ability to work with little supervision.  
  • High degree of organizational and planning skills.  
  • High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well with others  
  • Computer Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software.  Preferred AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Project proficiency. 
  • Ability to meet NiSource travel requirement for local travel to construction sites.

  • Knowledge in space utilization and planning.


Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position 

Rising Junior or Senior College Student pursuing a degree in Construction Management or related field in Construction.
