NiSource, one of the largest fully regulated utility companies in the United States, is currently searching for a Transformation Consultant for its Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). As a full-time member of NiSource’s EPMO, the Transformation Consultant will play a strategic role in supporting NiSource transformational initiatives to embrace and enhance the Company’s commitment to safety and focus on operational rigor and continuous improvement. This highly visible position will work directly with senior leadership to identify, execute and govern enterprise-wide transformational initiatives that build new capabilities, drive efficiencies and unlock sustainable value.

The incumbent will partner with all levels of the business to discover solutions to business challenges and opportunities through critical thinking and problem-solving skills, external benchmarking, and internal best practices.

Key deliverables for this role include project charters and roadmaps, status reporting and management of milestones and project risks, resource assessment and tracking, financial and performance realization, risk mitigation and KPIs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with business leaders to discover solutions to business challenges and opportunities through critical thinking and problem-solving skills, external benchmarking and internal best practices.
  • Assist business resources in identifying resource requirements and capabilities required to support execution of identified process improvement and change initiatives.
  • Build capabilities to provide external insights, analytics, best practices and benchmarking to aide in the identification and solutioning of transformational opportunities.
  • Engage in the planning and monitoring of current and contemplated large scale transformational initiatives, providing the CEO, Executive Leadership team and steering committee(s) an ongoing portfolio view of strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in development of metrics and cost tracking mechanisms to quantify the value of the improvements (e.g. safety, improve quality, reduce costs) associated with specific transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing financial measurement and reporting for transformation initiatives to provide clear and transparent tracking of financial performance.
  • Support leadership alignment throughout the organization through available tools and resources (goal alignment, messaging, and performance alignment sessions).
  • Challenge business resources to drive consistency and standardization in developing best practice processes
  • Develop the information necessary to provide engagement, decisions, and communications related to these initiatives to ensure carefully orchestrated and executed efforts.
  • Interacts with senior leaders on the planning, status, feedback, and results of strategic initiatives. 

Required Qualifications for Position

All Consulting Levels

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Effective project management skills to formulate a plan of action and effective execution.
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Process oriented thinker with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proven knowledge and abilities in the principles of change management and process improvement
  • Skilled in coaching and facilitation, including frontline workforce to sr. leader audiences.
  • Experience in PowerBI with creating dashboards, visuals and reports
  • Demonstrates strong ability and interest to grow multi-skilled.
  • PC Tools Skills:  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and Excel

Sr. Consultant

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in consulting, process improvement and change management capability leading and/or participating in a project / consulting engagement bringing deep expertise in select areas, yet conversationally skilled in others.
  • Requires advanced experience and skillset in one capability area: intermediate capability in other areas.

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Experience working in Finance or Finance related field
  • Prior experience in the energy industry, utilizing business acumen and knowledge of the business to influence others and outcomes 
  • Lean, Six Sigma certification
