Job Title:  Manager Natural Resource Permitting

Job Code:  106142

Job Summary

A corporate-wide position responsible for managing natural resources permitting for electric, natural gas transmission and distribution business units.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of natural resources environmental permitting for electric and natural gas business units. The candidate must demonstrate success in leading and collaborating with diverse teams on complex environmental permitting solutions and be recognized externally for leadership in the environmental field. Responsibilities include demonstrating leadership through:

  • Leads and develops a high performance environmental inspection staff
  • Establishes and coordinates cross-functional teams (staff, internal subject matter experts, project managers and consultants)
  • Commands of natural resources permitting and compliance requirements and processes in the energy industry including preconstruction, construction, process/system modification for minor and major activities.
  • Project management of the environmental aspects of linear and infrastructure capital project programs
  • Strong understanding of environmental agency permit development, environmental compliance requirements and applicable state and federal environmental laws/regulations as they pertain to the energy industry
  • Identification, development, enhancement and implementation of proactive and strategic environmental permitting programs that support implementation of business strategy
  • Understanding of the application of environmental technologies available for improving performance and addressing environmental issues within the business operations
  • Effectively communicates technical subject matter at all organizational levels and functions
  • Drives functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence.
  • Oversees the activities of the geographically dispersed staff and contractor workforce.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in the environmental and energy field
  • Must have ability to identify opportunities and develop strategic programs from a multifunctional, cross-process perspective to enhance business plans
  • Must have self-directed aptitude and be willing to contribute in a wide array of environmental disciplines
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment and have a strong ability to work with and be a leader in diverse team settings
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Approximately 20% travel

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • M.S. Degree in Environmental related field
  • Knowledge of energy related fields including electric generation, natural gas transmission and storage, and natural gas distribution
