Integrity Engineer - Natural Gas Measurement, Regulation, and Controls Assets Job Family
Overview
A single person that will create, manage and track asset management plans and integrity programs under the direction of Asset Program Owner. This includes oversite of plan performance and execution on an ongoing basis for all NiSource operating states. Must assess risks and identify work that optimizes safety, reliability, and affordability for the asset class.
Key Activities
Provide safety leadership thru asset risk management activities to support the 10 key elements of the organization’s Safety Management System per API RP 1173.
Create, mature, and maintain a Facilities Integrity Management Program (FIMP) utilizing Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) recommended practice and Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) guidelines.
Apply FIMP concepts to manage integrity and risk across the NiSource Regulator Station assets; Measurement, Regulation, and Controls equipment.
Provide direct support to the Asset Program Owner related to asset risk management activities.
Utilize Excel to risk rank asset threats and associated outcomes utilizing work experience, subject matter expert input, industry events, internal events, formal risk assessment, and industry benchmarks.
Build concise, informative, and visually pleasing PowerPoint presentations to support Board, Governance, Senior Leadership, and Field Execution Meetings.
Guide and oversee engineering and risk consultants to support risk identification and risk reduction program execution.
Assist in Root Cause Analysis meetings as a subject matter expert regarding asset threats and risk.
Conduct Field Observations of work activities to attain risk informed perspective.
Maintain awareness of regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to the asset portfolio in general and to the asset management plan for the specific asset class specifically
Actively seek and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders related to performance and support.
Maintenance of service-focused working relationships with Operations partners.
Represent Compliance and Technology as a subject matter expert in support of regulatory filings and proceedings at state and federal level.
Participate in process to influence regulatory proceedings through industry associations and other opportunities.
Build, promote and enhance collaborative relationships with Public Utility Commissions, industry associations, company affiliates and other potential business partners.
Assist areas in preparation for Commission Audits. Collaborate with Standards and Compliance Leaders, peers and local operations to prepare preventative strategies to eliminate repeat offenses.
Key Stakeholder on decisions to update Company O&M policies and procedures.
Prepare and submit periodic mandated reports to external agencies.
Align individual objectives with department goals and projects to ensure that corporate needs and objectives are met.
Maintain awareness of decision-making impacts to capital and O&M budgets and recommend best cost alternatives to meet budgetary constraints.
Attend conventions, conferences, etc., which relate to functions performed by the department.
Provide seasoned operations consulting to Field Operations
Facilitate and lead annual risk review meetings
Provide guidance and direction to peer Integrity Management Engineers
Serve as a Subject Matter Representative (SMR) and technical expert to business partners
Serve in a leadership role on an interim basis
Required Qualifications for Position
This position will be filled based on the skillset of the candidate and will be filled as one of the below job family titles:
Required for Selection:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university program.
Strong analytical skills with ability to understand data collection requirements
Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
Skilled in data analysis and ability to interpret data trends, and data driven understanding of risk in the asset class
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred for Selection:
Master’s degree in Business or Engineering
Engineering in Training (EIT) license
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience working in geographically dispersed company
Measurement, Regulation, and Controls Operations and/or Engineering knowledge/experience
Competency ratings of “High” in areas of: Safety Leadership, Courage, Facilitating Change, Creating a Culture of Trust, Driving a Questioning Mindset, Decision Making, Delegation and Empowerment, Ensuring Accountability, Coaching, and Optimizing Diversity.
Integrity Engineer 1:
Less than 2 years related work experience
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of the utility industry
Preferred:
Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
Knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS)
Knowledge of Integrity Management Programs
Knowledge of 49 PHMSA CFR 191 and 192
Knowledge of industry standards related to regulator station design and operations
Knowledge of asset policies, procedures, and standards
Knowledge of technical business applications (e.g. DIS, GIS, WMS, CIS, MAXIMO)
Integrity Engineer 2
2+ years related work experience
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards related to regulator station design and operations.

Job Requirements:
Hybrid worker based within NiSource service territory (Indiana service territory preferred).
Use of computer for 8 hours per day.
Less than 10% overnight travel but could change as business needs change.
Extended work hours to meet business needs.
The successful candidate will be considered for one of the 4 job titles based off of their experience

Salary Range:
$73,400.00 - $152,100.00
